Dibrugarh, home to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is being inundated and reeling under severe flood which was triggered by heavy rains that have lashed the district from the past 2 days.
The major streets and towns of the district are waterlogged and like every year the flood has affected the town. Major residential areas such as Chowkidinghee, Khaniagaon, Gangapara, Seujpur, Amolapatty, Padum Nagar, Naliapool, Santipara, Durgabari, Bishnu Nagar, Khalihamari, Guardpara, Jiban Phukan Nagar, West Milan Nagar, Ashit Nagar, KP Road, Bordoloi Avenue, Lachit Nagar, and Graham Bazar were affected by the flash flood where rainwater has entered many houses and offices.
The Dibrugarh Town Protection Drain (DTP) is overflowing due to the constant rain and it has lost its capacity to flush out water from the town.
As per recent reports, major government offices, police stations, AIR radio stations have been hit by flash floods and have been badly affected by waterlogging.
The Dibrugarh district faced a similar kind of situation in the year 2015 and is currently facing the same.
Dibrugarh district lies on the banks of Brahmaputra River and during heavy rains, it gets affected by flash flood every year.
