Germany officially the Federal Republic of Germany is a European country that has a rich history. 1. Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a town located in the Franconia region of Bavaria and is well known for its well-preserved medieval old-town vibes. A free imperial city since 1803, it has a rich history dating back to the 1st Century CE.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber in German means “Red castle above the Tauber” and this is because the town is located on a plateau above the Tauber River. It is a part of Romantic Road which is a travel theme route of South Germany.


2. Brandenburg Gate

Brandenburg Gate is an 18th-century, neo-classical monument building in Berlin built on the orders of Prussian king Fredrick William II. One of the best-known landmarks and most tourist things to do in Germany is visit the gate which has a rich history.

It was built on the site of a former city gate that marked the start of the road from Berlin to the town of Brandenburg an der Havel, which used to be the capital of the Margraviate of Brandenburg. It is the tallest twin-spiraled structure in the world and the second-tallest church in Europe.


4. Schloss Sanssouci

Schloss Sanssouci is a summer palace of Fredrick the Great, King of Prussia which is located near Berlin. It is known for its building which is rival to Versailles. It is notable for its numerous Temples and Follies in the park.

The palace was designed and built by Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff between 1745 to 1747 and this was built for the king to rest and remain carefree against the pomp and ceremony in Berlin. After world war II and the unification of Germany, the palace became one of the most important places to visit and the gardens became a world heritage site and are under the protection of UNESCO.


5. Christkindlesmarkt, Nuremberg

Best visited during Christmas time Christkindlesmarkt is one of the largest Christmas markets in Germany which is visited by over 2 million visitors not only it is famous in Germany but is famous worldwide.

Every year the Christmas market begins on the Friday preceding the first Sunday in Advent and ends on December 24 unless the 24th of December falls on Sunday. You can witness countless little huts where you can buy anything related to Christmas and Glühwein is a must-try-out drink when you visit here.


6. Zugspitze – Garmisch Partenkirchen

The Zugspitze is one of the highest mountains in Germany and runs across the border of Austria-Germany. It is located around 2962 m above sea level and is home to 2 of Germany’s largest glaciers.

Once you climb this mountain you can have 360-degree views of 4 surrounding countries. On a clear day, you can view mountains from Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland. Guests from all over the world come here as this mountain is also a popular ski place in Germany.


7. Insel Mainau

Insel Mainau is a unique flower island located in Lake Constance. It is a garden island and a model of excellent environmental practice.  It is a greenhouse island that has a tropical climate and many butterflies. It is one of the major places of attraction in Germany which has many flowers and spectacular views.

Mainau Island is 610 meters long from North to South and 1050 meters wide from West to East. The island’s circumference is about three kilometers. It is primarily a flowering island that is notable for its parks and gardens. 8. The Berlin Wall

Schloss Neuschwanstein is a dreamy castle located above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The castle was home to King Ludwig II of Bavaria who was also known as the Mad King. It was his home until his death around 1886 and since then it has been a tourist destination ever since his death. It is said that over 1.3 million people visit the castle annually and as many as 6000 people visit the castle per day in the months of summer.
