Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Thursday launched a channel selector application that will enable users to choose the channel of interest and remove the channels which the user does not want. TRAI in a statement said that after issuing the new tariff order for broadcasting services it was noticed that the users were facing difficulty to opt for TV channels of their choice using the web and portal of their network provider.
Hence, the authority decided to develop an app that will be easy for users to choose the channels of their choice and modify the same. The TRAI Channel Selector app is available for android and iOS via Play Store and App Store respectively. It now has major DTH operators and Multi-System Operators, however, efforts are being made to integrate other service providers on the platform.
The application would allow subscribers to verify their subscription, see all channels and packages provided by the DTH / Cable operator and choose the channels of interest and eliminate the unwanted channels. It also gives consumers a facility to modify existing subscriptions and check the real-time status of the subscription requests.
The App will also optimize the subscription that the user selects and it will be sent to DTH operator which is where the subscribers will get the best value for money.
