Gangster Vikas Dubey who was on the run after killing 8 policemen of UP Police has been encountered this early morning. He was killed after there was exchange fire with police after being brought to Uttar Pradesh from Madhya Pradesh as he was found in Madhya Pradesh after the deadly battle between UP Police and Vikas Dubey and his aides at Kanpur.
A police officer from UP Police told the reporters that the Special Task Force (STF) vehicle was overturned near Bhaunti in Kanpur’s early hours of Friday where Vikas Dubey was being transferred from MP to UP.
Kanpur SP Anil Kumar told a TV channel that Dubey was killed by Policeman as a ‘Self-Defence’ after he took advantage of a road accident. “Vikas Dubey tried to run after snatching a pistol of an injured policeman. The police surrounded him from all four sides and tried to make him surrender, but he fired at the police. In self-defense, police fired two bullets [at Dubey] injuring him,” said Mr. Kumar.
UP ADG Law & Order Prashant Kumar said that Vikas Dubey died in the hospital where he was shifted citing the Kanpur Police Report.
SSP (Kanpur) Dinesh Kumar P told reporters at the site where he was attacked and also added he had no information on why vehicles of Media personnel were stopped which were trailing behind the police vehicle.
Before catching Vikas Dubey, the police personnel had encountered 5 aides of Dubey since the ambush which happened in Kanpur on July 2 and 3.
Since the ambush Vikas was on the run and was arrested near Mahakal Temple in Ujjain on Thursday. “He was handed over to the U.P. police, who took him to their State by road,” said an MP Police official.
