In today’s generation, the entire world is dependent on the Internet and Google the biggest search engine on the planet. We Indians are proud that an Indian who was struggling in his life now controlling Google, his name is Sudar Pichai and he became the CEO of Google in 2015.
Many people’s dream is to a job in Google, but this man became the head of Google itself, a lot of hard work and smart work placed him in the highest position.
There was a time where Pichai could not purchase a bag also but now he has grown to the level where he takes the biggest salary in the world with crores of rupees. Some reports say that he receives $242 million annually, after the control of Alphabet Inc.
Sudar Pichai was born in Madurai, Tamilnadu. He grew in a poor family but he was good in his studies and had a good memory power. Do you know he was having more interest in cricket? Yes, from his childhood he wanted to be a great cricketer one day.
After the completion of his studies in India, he took the scholarship to study M.S. at Stanford University in California. But he was not having the money to travel, his father gave him all his savings and brought some loan to send his son to America.
While studying in college he fell in love with Anjali, but after going to America he could not communicate with her properly because the International call rates are too high in those days that he could not bear.
The daily expenses were increasing day-by-day but still somehow he completed M.S. in material science and semi-conductor science, later he joined a company named Applied Materials, after some time again he joined the Wharton University of Pennsylvania and completed MBA.
He was in a job he told to his parents regarding their love, they agreed and married. That time Sundar Pichai felt the Internet and the technology is growing so he wanted to be a part of it.
He immediately decided to leave the company and go for Google Interview for the job on 1st April 2004, coincidently on the same day, Google introduced Gmail to the world.
The interviewers asked do you know about Gmail he said no and was thinking it may be an April fool. Later they showed the concept then Pichai also suggested some improvements. But maybe the interviewer also not knowing that they are interviewing the future CEO of the company.
Pichai joined the Google search team as an employee, from then his life changed. At the time he was working more people were using browsers like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera.
This was observed by Pichai and told his seniors that we should have a separate browser to compete but the idea was rejected, even Google CEO Eric said it costs more to develop and maintain.
He put all his efforts to convince Larry Page and Sergey Brin finally, they gave the green signal. The same browser we are using everyday Google Chrome was introduced and it stands in the front position with competitors. This browser made Google popular and successful.
From then he was made as Vice Presidents for Google’s Products, later in-charged for android development, at the same time he got big offers from Microsoft and Twitter to join as CEO but he was not interested, he wanted to work for Google itself, even Google was not ready to leave him as well.
In 2015, India was happy because Google announced the next CEO will be Sundar Pichai, from then he became famous throughout the world. After he became CEO the Google is moving forward with jet speed. And Google believes he is better than all previous CEO’s.
Even after running such a big company and earn crores of rupees he leads a simple life and down to earth nature which is like by all Google employees and honor him.
Once an incident occurred, a person showed Google office images to a 7-year old daughter and said working in Google will be too good. She was inspired and she said she wants to work over there, but their parents did not scratch there head much.
Once’s she wrote a letter to Google that she wants to work in their office but no one expected she got a reply from Sundar Pichai from Google saying…
“Thank you so much for your letter. I’m glad that you like computers and robots and hope that you will continue to learn about technology. If you keep working hard and following your dreams, you can accomplish everything you set your mind to – from working at google to winning in the Olympics. I look forward to receiving your job application when you are finished with school”
People were shocked to see this letter and even it went viral on social media because Sundar Pichai will be very busy in his work, but still, he responded for a young girl’s letter this made a sensation and even shows his greatness.
Not only that, he interacts with the IIT students where he learned through skype and gives interviews for various people around the world.
